SALVA A LÃ PORTUGUESA

O projeto hiWOOL - Network for heritage and innovation for the future of WOOL, com duração de 18 meses, é uma iniciativa da Associação “Salva a lã Portuguesa”, criada em 2015 com o objetivo de promover a sustentabilidade do ciclo da lã e a salvaguarda da cultura e tradição do património lanar em Portugal. Este projeto, financiado pelo Fundo de Relações Bilaterais, visa a partilha de conhecimentos entre Portugal e a Noruega na promoção da sustentabilidade do ciclo da lã e exploração de produtos lanares, para pequenos produtores de raças ovinas, tendo por base as diferenças culturais entre os dois países e a diversidade das raças nos dois países. 

Este projeto está organizado em quatro etapas principais:

i) Fibras, com o objetivo de sistematizar o estudo das características principais dos fios de lã das principais raças em Portugal e na Noruega;

ii) Indústria, com o objetivo de recolher contributos e partilhar experiências na implementação de uma indústria de pequena escala de tratamento da lã;

iii) Património cultural, com o objetivo de identificar diferenças culturais na abordagem ao ciclo da lã, incluindo a identificação de padrões têxteis representativos dessas tradições; e

iv) Futuro, com o objetivo de discutir estratégias para o futuro da lã, de identificar estratégias de promoção da sustentabilidade e aumento do valor na cadeia de produção.

Todas as atividades desenvolvidas serão acompanhadas pelas equipas dos dois países.

O projeto hiWOOL conta com a colaboração das empresas Selbu Spinneri AS (Noruega) e Multilãs, Unipessoal, Lda (Portugal), com os laboratórios de investigação SIFO, OsloMet da Universidade Oslo Metropolitan e o D_TEX Lab - Laboratório de Desenvolvimento Têxtil da Faculdade de Arquitetura da Universidade de Lisboa e com o apoio local do museu dos Lanifícios da Covilhã e do Folk Museum em Oslo. 

The hiWOOL project - Network for heritage and innovation for the future of WOOL (link), lasting 18 months, is an initiative of the Association “Save the Portuguese wool”, created in 2015 with the aim of promoting sustainability of the wool cycle and the safeguarding of the culture and heritage tradition launched in Portugal. This project, funded by the Bilateral Relations Fund, aims to share knowledge between Portugal and Norway in promoting the wool sustainability for small sheep breeders, based on the cultural differences between the two countries and the diversity of sheep breeds of in both countries.

This project is organized in four topics:

i) Fibers, to systematize the study of the main characteristics of the wool yarns of the main breeds in Portugal and Norway;

ii) Industry, with the objective of collecting contributions and sharing experiences in the implementation of a small scale wool treatment industry;

iii) Cultural heritage, with the aim of identifying cultural differences in the approach to the wool cycle, including the identification of textile patterns representative of those traditions; and

iv) Future, to discuss strategies for the future of wool, to identify measures to promote sustainability and increase value in the production chain.

All activities developed will be monitored by teams from both countries.

The hiWOOL project is a joint  collaboration of the Selbu Spinneri AS (Norway) and Multilãs, Unipessoal, Lda (Portugal) companies, the research centers SIFO, OsloMet  from the Oslo Metropolitan University and the D_TEX Lab - Textile Development Laboratory from the Faculty of Architecture from the University of Lisbon and finally with the local support of the museum of Lanificos da Covilhã and the Folk Museum in Oslo.
